Thinking Big: Interactive breakout workshops

The Tipping Points Conference will use elements of the MG Taylor facilitation method created over 50 years ago by American facilitators, Gail and Matt Taylor. It is used at the World Economic Forum and by the Global Commons alliance. It is designed to facilitate constructive knowledge exchange at speed across multi-disciplinary groups.

Fast Company wrote of it: ‘Participants at the Taylors’ DesignShops find that the process …unleashes what the Taylors call “group genius,” a collective creativity so powerful, energizing, and transformative that organizations ranging from restaurant chains to the U.S. military’s aerospace test program have turned frustrating dead ends into hugely successful ventures — in a fraction of the time required by conventional management.”

We are applying the Taylors’ core facilitation principles in the four conference breakout sessions to make them dynamic, creative and action orientated.

We are thinking big. Our goal is to advance thinking, identify possible solutions and leverage the potential of the people present. We seek to generate momentum by strengthening the links between participants, so they can actively integrate existing networks as to further orchestrate tipping points after the conference.

The work really starts during the conference. It continues afterwards. We cannot make change alone. Positive tipping points means scaling collective action.

The workshop process has been customised by Betty Dhamers of WOW and the Value Web working with Chris Langdon of Thinking the Unthinkable and the GSI team.
